The Scheer Advertising Group/Norman J. Stevens Advertising Agency, Inc. is Jersey Award Winner

Burlington Coat Factory Campaigns Dazzle N.J. Ad Club

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., May 22, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Scheer Advertising Group/Norman J. Stevens Advertising Agency, Inc. won Jersey Awards for two television campaigns it created for Burlington Coat Factory at last night's award ceremony at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, N.J.

The agency's "Lot's More Winter" spot placed first in the Single Spot, Corporate category. This award is given to an outstanding advertisement with production costs lower than $30,000.00. Its "Burlington Fall Fashion" campaign also won an award in the Corporate Campaign category. Winners in this category must be comprised of three or more spots for a single advertiser.

Both campaigns chart new territory for Burlington Coat Factory, a retailer with a history of conservative advertising campaigns. The new creative features quirky, clever humor, but does not undermine the company's image as a traditional and well-loved brand. The popular advertisements were also created on a considerably lower budget than the industry standard.

Both award-winning entries have received the Ad Age/IAG Top Spot for consumer recall. "Coat Check," part of the "Fall Fashion" campaign took the honors in September, 2002 and "Lot's More Winter" won in January, 2003. The Top Spot signifies that viewers who saw the ad were able to remember the advertiser and their message, as well as the creative for the campaign.

"I'm so proud of the work our staff has done on these campaigns," said Mark Scheer, Executive Vice President of the agency and Account Manager for Burlington Coat Factory. "They truly deserve this recognition. I'm also excited that our agency is becoming a well-known name, instead of the 'best kept secret' it's been for the last seven decades!"

The team behind the award-winning ads includes: Zvi ben Mosher (Copywriter/Creative Director), Don Jacobs (Art Director), Mark Scheer (Account Manager) and Rachel Burkhardt (Executive Producer).
