NCC to Extend University in Halden, Norway for SEK 176 million


SOLNA, Sweden, June 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- NCC Construction AS in Norway has signed a contract with Norwegian Statsbygg to extend and renovate the Ostfold University College in Halden, Norway. The contract is valued at SEK 176 million (NOK 160 million).

The assignment is a main contractor project that will require a total of three years and will be carried out in two construction stages. The first stage will mainly involve construction of a new 12,000-m2 extension to house classrooms, teacher rooms, offices, auditorium and library. The new building is scheduled for occupancy in May 2005. The second construction stage will be completed in May 2006 and involves demolition and renovation of existing premises including a lecture hall, offices and classrooms.

At most, there will be 70 persons working on the project.

"The university college will be open during the entire project period. Therefore, it is very important that we work in such a way that the students and teachers can continue studies in a satisfactory manner," said Svend-Harald Maalen, District Manager at NCC in Norway.
