A Journalist's Tale of Faith -- New Book Heals Wounds of Losing Loved One in 2001 Terrorist Attacks

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 28, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The events of Sept. 11, 2001 touched Americans in a variety of ways. As hijacked airplanes pierced the steel and glass of the World Trade Towers and demolished a wing of the Pentagon, the nation watched wide-eyed and stunned. In the following days, the death toll became apparent, and, with each passing day, panic and grief set in for the families left waiting for news of loved ones.

In his new book, 911, God Help Us - A Journalist's Tale of Faith: How Losing a Brother in Sept. 11 Terrorist Attack Transformed Reporter into a Witness for God (now available through 1stBooks), Roy L. Williams depicts the long, hard road to acceptance of his brother's tragic loss.

Williams, a reporter for the Birmingham News, says his life was forever altered on that fateful day in September. His oldest brother, Maj. Dwayne Williams, was killed when a hijacked airplane careened into the Pentagon.

"This book will capture the readers' compassion for human life and understanding of family connections and how they are never broken. It will search out, rouse and deepen patriotism for a country of greatness and strength. The reader will go along ... as (I) discover and acknowledge the greatest strength of all -- that of a faith in God," Williams states.

To ease the pain, Williams sought emergency help from God. Williams details this experience and his childhood with his brother. He takes readers to the unveiling of his brother's memorial, one year after his death. He also shows the miracles of life and death as he describes the birth of his son.

Heartfelt and emotional, 911, God Help Us - A Journalist's Tale of Faith is a unique look inside the mind of a grief-stricken man, coming to terms with his brother's violent, senseless death.

Williams has worked as a reporter for 15 years. His brother, Kim, plans to release a CD, My Brother (Noncaphony Records), dedicated to their fallen brother, and his mother is currently finishing a children's book, A Hero Called Fish, also a tribute to his brother, whose childhood nickname was Fish. 911, God Help Us - A Journalist's Tale of Faith is his first book.
