HERNDON, Va., Oct. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Information Technology (IT) sector has been selected by the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) as a qualified industry partner to offer high-level IT consulting and services to Virginia state and local agencies.

The contract, which extends for three years plus three one-year options, will cover a multitude of IT services, including operations and business processes; technology advisory consulting services; major project implementation and project management; enterprise application integration; and core business systems support. State agencies, state institutions of higher education and localities will now be able to procure these specific IT services directly from Northrop Grumman IT.

"Northrop Grumman IT is extremely gratified to be selected by the commonwealth as a partner of choice for their critical IT transformation effort," said Cheryl L. Janey, vice president, State and Local Solutions, Northrop Grumman IT. "As a top tier systems integrator of large, complex IT implementations, we bring unmatched experience and skills that will help the commonwealth succeed across a broad spectrum of requirements. Further, we have undertaken major IT consolidation efforts, both internal and in support of our clients, that closely parallel the commonwealth's efforts-our expertise and first hand experience will help the commonwealth reduce their risk during the planning and implementation phases."

Virginia has embarked on a technology program to transition from a decentralized IT services environment to providing centralized, consolidated services as a technology utility. When fully deployed, Virginia's new IT organization, the VITA, will consolidate the infrastructure, processes and people of more than 90 executive branch agencies.

As a qualified industry partner, Northrop Grumman IT will assist with strategic, high-level, solutions-oriented consulting services across a broad range of requirements to quickly address and resolve the functional, business and technical issues facing Virginia and help meet their aggressive schedule and achieve their goals for information technology and consolidation.
