Wieck Media Helps Companies Prepare for 2004 North American International Auto Show

ADDISON, Texas, Dec. 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Wieck Media Services, a leader in digital media management and services, has been working with leading automotive manufacturers to load all their current information and images on autodeadline.com in preparation for the upcoming 2004 North American International Auto Show in early January.

Media days at the Detroit show are January 4-6 and Autodeadline.com is a one-stop web site for journalists covering the automotive industry. The site provides the most up-to-date photos, text and videos from major automotive manufacturers.

"There has been a significant increase in the automotive industry using online media sites," said Jim Wieck, co-founder and chairman of Wieck. "Because of this, we have been working with all the major automotive manufacturers to complete our one-stop shop in time for the 2004 auto show in Detroit."

Companies that thus far have provided media files for autodeadline.com include: American Honda Motors; Robert Bosch Corp.; DaimlerChrysler; Dupont Automotive; Ford Motor Co.; General Motors; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.; Hyundai Motor America; American Isuzu Motors, Inc.; Michelin; Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.; American Suzuki Motor Corp.; Toyota North America, and Visteon Corporation.

Wieck also routinely sets up its own media services center for clients at the Detroit show and helps manage the general media center used by all media representatives attending the media preview. In addition, Wieck provides media centers for its clients at other auto shows, at road testing sites and at other special event sites.

Wieck utilizes databases, the Web and other technologies to provide the media with a complete library of text, graphics, photos, and digital broadcast-quality videos from the world's foremost automotive manufacturers.

"The automotive industry is leading the way in online media sourcing," said Tim Roberts, president of Wieck. "For example, this year alone there were 16,784 downloads in three days from the Los Angeles 2003 Auto Show. These numbers combined with downloads from the 2003 Detroit auto show account for more than 40 gigabytes of data downloaded from Wieck servers."

The 2003 Detroit show had 58,393 downloads of high-resolution photos in four days (Jan. 5-6-7-8), including a one-day high of 22,308 (Jan. 7). Clients posted more than 1,600 images of new models and concept cars during the show as reporters and editors in 43 countries accessed the various media sites managed and maintained for Wieck's automaker clients.

Because Wieck's founders are veterans of United Press International with world-wide connections within the media, Wieck has a deep understanding of what media companies need and how they consume digital images and other content.
