WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Dec. 18, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- ALR Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:ALRT), headquartered in Winston-Salem, NC, and Pharmaceutical Dynamics Inc., based in Philadelphia, have signed an agreement for Pharmaceutical Dynamics to represent ALR Technologies' disease management products and services within the senior care industry.
Gina Westfall, President of Pharmaceutical Dynamics, said her company has been in discussions with ALR Technologies and after evaluating their medication compliance products and services her company sees considerable need for the products in the senior care industry.
"Medication noncompliance is prevalent in our society and seniors represent the most vulnerable group. They have more chronic illnesses, take more medications and, therefore, are more vulnerable when they don't take their medications as prescribed," states Ms. Westfall. "In addition, as their cognition decreases with age, they are more prone to non-compliance. We at Pharmaceutical Dynamics recognize that many of our senior care corporate customers and their clients can benefit from ALR Technologies medication reminder products. We've provided samples of the products to a wide range of users and the response has been positive. And when you consider the impact that medication noncompliance has -- it can lead to poor patient outcomes because of reduced therapeutic response and increases the cost burden to society for unnecessary or preventable hospital admissions -- you quickly see how the ALRT Med Reminders can play an essential role in health management with seniors."
"We have worked with other medication compliance products and the ALRT Med Reminder products provide a unique combination of ease of use, functionality and affordability. These are all essential elements and no other products offer this combination," adds Ms. Westfall.
Pharmaceutical Dynamics provides consulting services and selected medical and health management products to the senior care industry. They will represent ALR Technologies products with nearly 30 national and regional associations as well as dozens of senior care corporations and hospitals.
"ALR Technologies looks forward to working with Pharmaceutical Dynamics with their extensive connections and professional reputation in the senior care industry," says Stan Cruitt, President of ALR Technologies. "We're already seeing the benefits our products can bring to the senior population. Participants in a clinical trial conducted by a major university asked to keep their ALRT Med Reminders at the end of the trial. Baby Boomers who have purchased our compliance reminder products for their parents are reporting their satisfaction. And we're receiving positive feedback from seniors using our products for conditions ranging from glaucoma to heart disease to diabetes."
