Peab builds for the Bothnia Line

FOERSLOEV, Sweden, Feb. 16, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Peab has won an order to build a railway embankment and two railway bridges for the Bothnia Line, just south of Ornskoldsvik. The client is Botniabanan AB and the contract is worth SEK 131 million.

The contract covers the construction of a railway embankment, 7 kilometres long, and two railway bridges, 70 and 45 metres long. Groundwater protection for an area of approx. 35 000 sq. m. around Bjastatjarn water catchment is also included in the contract.

This is the second big Bothnia Line contract Peab has won recently. In October 2003, Peab was commissioned to build three railway bridges at Kramfors, Solleftea and Ornskolsvik. The new contract will fit in well with other current jobs.

Around 70 people will be employed on the contract, and Peab will also take on a number of apprentices to train as plant drivers in accordance with an agreement with the local county employment board.
