Intertex Announces VPN Support

NASHUA, N.H., March 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intertex Data, manufacturer of SIP capable firewalls for the SOHO market, today announced an addition to the IX66 series of products. IPSec, PPTP and L2TP VPNs will be available in the new IX66+ ADSL VPN model. TLS encryption of the SIP signaling will also become available along with the VPN features mentioned, further strengthening the unique support for SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) in the IX66.

The IX66 supports the common protocols and encryption methods in use today, including IPSec, PPTP and L2TP VPNs as well as DES, 3DES and AES encryption. A further strength of the VPN implementation is the support for X.509 certificates, not commonly found in SOHO products. With the addition of VPN to its IX66+ ADSL units, Intertex makes the IX66 an even more complete solution for the SOHO market with ADSL modem, firewall, router, SIP proxy and server, WLAN access point and now VPN server all built into one compact unit.

The VPN functionality makes the IX66 even more suitable for the small office environment where it can handle most data and voice communication needs. While other firewalls often do not even handle SIP communication between the LAN and the outside world, the IX66 does that with full functionality, control and security. And with the innovative and awarded SIP Switch software, ENUM support and a very useful PBX like feature set is added to the IX66. With the VPN server, the IX66 now also can function as the VPN termination point for road warriors and telecommuters that wish to securely communicate with their office. Also supporting LAN-to-LAN VPN, branch offices LAN can easily connect to the HQ LAN in a secure manner.

At the VON (Voice on the Net) show in Santa Clara, Intertex will demonstrate the VPN features and the SIP Switch. The demonstration includes live SIP based communication with offices and personnel in multiple places around the globe and PSTN connectivity in several countries.
