Bitfone Wins Innovative Product/Technology Award from the American Electronics Association

mProve Development Team Recognized For Revolutionary Wireless Software Solution

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif., May 13, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Bitfone Corporation (www.bitfone.com), the company that pioneered over-the-air (OTA) firmware update technology for mobile phones, announced today that it has been honored with the Innovative Product/Technology Award from the Orange County Chapter of the American Electronics Association (AeA) for the company's breakthrough software solution, mProve(tm). Original developers Jim Gustafson, Samson Chen, Brian O'Neill, LaShawn McGhee and Iyad Qumei also received individual awards for the design of Bitfone's revolutionary OTA technology.

"We greatly appreciate these awards which recognize the creativity, dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of our outstanding engineering team," said Gene Wang, chairman and CEO, Bitfone. "The Bitfone team has developed a revolutionary software solution that allows carriers and manufacturers to service mobile phones while in the customers' hands, eventually saving the wireless industry an estimated $8 billion annually. mProve is not only an innovative technology, it's a commercial success, having been deployed in the world's first two commercial OTA initiatives in Japan and Korea."

Bitfone's mProve is the wireless industry's first solution to update a mobile phone's embedded operating system, or firmware, over the air, in a secure and fault-tolerant manner. Earlier in the year, Bitfone was also the first company to be nominated for two awards by the Software Council of Southern California, including Software Developer of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year, the latter awarded to Wang. Bitfone was also the recipient of the Cutting Edge Technologies Promise Award at the 3GSM World Congress in February of 2004.
