Highlighting the occasion were remarks by Congressman Frank R. Wolf (R-VA 10th), James R. O'Neill, president of Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector, and Sidney E. Fuchs, president of Northrop Grumman IT's TASC business unit.

"This facility marks the continued growth of Northrop Grumman IT TASC with the addition of 85,000 square feet of state-of-the-art office and conference space to support numerous contract awards and allows for future growth through new jobs," said Fuchs.

"As one of the largest employers in Virginia, it is rewarding for Northrop Grumman to expand its presence and facilities, and to contribute to the region's job growth," O'Neill said.

Northrop Grumman IT currently has 1,000 open employment opportunities, 300 of which are within the TASC business unit. Northrop Grumman IT TASC has approximately 3,745 employees nationwide, of which 1,660 are located in Chantilly. The TASC business unit has added 1,000 new hires nationwide in 2004.

The company has a location in Chantilly to better serve national security customers. The building expansion will allow the TASC business unit to consolidate and co-locate teams in a campus-like environment, where customers and employees benefit from advanced conference and training facilities, a 320-seat auditorium, and an employee fitness center. The expansion is scheduled for completion in September 2005.

"We plan to continue supporting the local community through programs such as Feed the Homeless and our partnerships with Westfield's High School, Stone Middle School, and London Towne Elementary School," added Fuchs.

Northrop Grumman IT TASC has partnered with Eurest Dining Services for the past 15 years to support the Feed the Homeless program in the Washington, D.C.-metro area through donations and volunteer hours from local staff.

"Northrop Grumman employees share their technical expertise and financial resources through multiple educational venues including science fairs and technology centers, which have a profound impact on the future of today's youth," Wolf commented.

Through Northrop Grumman's educational partnerships with local schools, the company has been able to provide scholarship, financial and volunteer support, and participate in school-supply drives and many other areas of educational assistance.

In addition to local community efforts, Northrop Grumman IT TASC recently supported the 45th Infantry Brigade troops in Afghanistan with 250 pre-paid calling cards and care packages.
