DUBLIN, Ireland, Aug. 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. ("AIB") (NYSE:AIB) has made two new Non-Executive Director appointments to its Board. They are Ms. Jenny Winter and Mr. Kieran Crowley. Their appointments are effective from 24 August 2004.
Ms. Winter is Chief Executive, Barretstown, Ireland, which delivers residential programmes to over 1300 children with cancer and other serious illnesses. Previously she was a Vice President with GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals UK and Managing Director of SmithKline Beecham, Ireland. Mr. Crowley is a consultant, a chartered accountant and a founder of Crowley Services Dublin Ltd., which operates the Dyno-Rod franchise in Ireland. He served as Chairman of the Small Firms Association for five years to December 2003 and is a member of the IBEC National Executive Council.
