Vattenfall extends agreement with Song Networks

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Vattenfall Data AB has decided to extend its existing agreement with Song Networks Svenska AB, a subsidiary of Song Networks Holding AB (Stockholmsborsen: SONW). The existing data network that Song Networks has been supplying since the end of 2003 is now being extended to achieve better coverage and accessibility. The agreement will run for three years at a value of approximately SEK 7.8 million.

Vattenfall Data AB, which has responsibility for the Vattenfall Group's data communications in the Nordic region, chose an Ethernet VPN solution from Song Networks in October 2003. The solution currently links together some 20 workplaces in a communication network with redundant connections ranging from 20 to 100 Mbit/s. The solution is now being extended with an IP VPN solution that will connect a further 85 offices at a speed of 2 to 4 Mbit/s.

"We are continually working to consolidate our infrastructure, where our internal data network is an important facilitator. This expansion with a larger bandwidth and the safeguarding of redundancy and minimal delay is therefore a priority. The solution that Song Networks supplied previously has worked really well, so we are now extending the agreement," says Jan Andersson, head of IT Infrastructure at Vattenfall Data AB.
