Smiths Aerospace Appoints Oliver Towers to Lead Strategy Efforts


LONDON, Nov. 8, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Smiths Aerospace (LSE:SMIN) announces the appointment of Dr. Oliver Towers as the Vice President, Strategy. Oliver is responsible for strategic planning, including market forecasting and analysis. He is based at the London office and reports to Dr. John Ferrie, President of Smiths Aerospace.

Dr. Towers has held a number of senior positions with Rolls-Royce, both in Europe and USA, and for the last year has been seconded to the UK Department of Trade and Industry as Project Director, Aerospace Innovation and Growth Team. Prior to this he was vice president programmes at IAE and vice president aftermarket for corporate and regional airlines at Rolls Royce. He has extensive international experience from these and other roles in engineering, manufacturing, business development and government relations. Oliver is an engineering graduate with a MBA and PhD.
