SMS.ac Mobile Trivia Crowns First International Champions

Cash Prizes Awarded in Monthly Mobile Interactive Contests

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 12, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- SMS.ac, Inc., a California-based mobile data communications company that is host to the world's largest community of mobile phone users, today announced the first five winners garnered from its latest mobile and interactive channel, smsTrivia (www.sms.ac/trivia).

The five smsTrivia winners bested fellow countrymen in a competition that takes place daily, with smsTrivia "Masters" chosen monthly. October's smsTrivia Masters include Patricia Bright from the United States, Angus Booth from Australia, Sonia DeMonte from the United Kingdom, Ciaran Watson-Barron from South Africa, and Colin King from the Netherlands.

SmsTrivia is a "question and answer" competition that incorporates questions on general knowledge. Participants receive a series of six questions on their mobile handsets, one at a time, and upon replying with an answer of either "true" or "false," receive a follow-up question, in addition to receiving immediate confirmation of a correct or incorrect answer. smsTrivia Masters that are ranked in the Top 10 for their city automatically advance to a final round, where they compete in a countrywide contest for cash prizes that may exceed $1,000 (USD).

"I'm a bit of a packrat when it comes to collecting information," said Ciaran Watson-Barron, the smsTrivia winner from South Africa. "Knowing a little about a lot actually paid off. I really enjoyed the game and I can't believe I won."

SMS.ac members wanting to participate in smsTrivia (www.sms.ac/trivia) must be at least 16 years of age. In the event of a tie, winners are determined by date of registration for smsTrivia. In essence, the user that registered for smsTrivia first will be selected as the winner.

In addition to smsTrivia, SMS.ac has a number of other interactive channels that include horoscopes, entertainment news, a drink of the day and more. The smsChannels cover subject matter ranging from "Fun and Games," "Sports" and "Entertainment," to "News," "Mobile Fun" and "Inspirational."
