Canary Resources Prepares for Drilling Campaign

TORONTO, April 11, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Canary Resources Inc. ("Canary")(Pink Sheets:CYRR), a coalbed methane (CBM) company, announces that it has engaged the services of an international geophysical team to assist Canary in optimizing well locations prior to its drilling program which is expected to commence in the second quarter of this year.

The survey will cover 30 square miles, and will high-grade locations within Canary's existing farm-out area of approximately 75,000 acres in the Forest City Basin in Kansas and Missouri. The area to be studied is currently productive for hydrocarbons and is under exploration for CBM. The survey is designed to assist Canary's field team and corroborate its analyses for selecting the most favorable sites for drilling to establish new CBM production. It is anticipated that processing of the data will be completed within the next 4 weeks.

The survey combines airborne low altitude multispectral identification of microfracture and joint detection with evaluation of associated surface leakage. The airborne survey generates image data in the spectral range from ultraviolet to thermal infrared. The data are processed to detect fracture and joint systems in rocks through soil and vegetation cover, and to evaluate the fracture permeability and potential production capability of these formations prior to drilling. Additional confirmation of the results will be by microtrace soil geochemical survey and analysis.

William Chandler, President of Canary, commented, "We are looking forward to receiving the input from the combined methodologies, which have proven successful in other CBM and fractured shale basins. The data will allow us to complete our work in evaluating potential production capability prior to drilling."
