Foothill Vocational Opportunities Celebrates Four Decades of Creating Jobs for Disabled


PASADENA, Calif., May 19, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Foothill Vocational Opportunities is celebrate its 40th anniversary of creating jobs for persons with disabilities at the "40 Years of Magic Opportunity Awards," on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Pasadena Center. Television personality Stephanie Edwards will host this special event celebrating triumph over diversity and the magic of a community committed to a worthwhile goal.

The 40 Years of Magic Opportunity Awards honors the individuals and corporations that have made outstanding contributions in helping Foothill provide employment opportunities for the disabled.

Jaylene Moseley, President of the J.L. Moseley Company (a commercial property development and management firm) and the Managing Director of the Flintridge Foundation (a private family foundation that has a program to strengthen local nonprofit organizations) will receive the Golden Opportunity Award. Jeffrey Thacker, a Foothill Client who has successfully maintained employment with the City of Pasadena for 17 years, will receive the Employee of the Year Award. Vons a division of Safeway, Inc., which also includes the Pavilions chain of grocery stores, will receive the Employer of the Year Award.

The 40 Years of Magic Opportunity Awards will provide Foothill the chance to raise community awareness as it continues providing over 225 disabled adults annually with meaningful employment opportunities. The community plays a crucial role in helping Foothill fulfill its mission. Local employers provide the jobs Foothill's clients need in the community and local businesses provide the work by which Foothill creates jobs in their manufacturing training facility. The net proceeds of this event will go directly to helping Foothill create jobs for persons with disabilities.

Foothill Vocational Opportunities was founded in 1965 with the mission of maximizing the personal and economic potential of disabled individuals by creating meaningful employment opportunities. Foothill Vocational Opportunities provides jobs for over 225 disabled individuals annually, working with employers to create jobs in the community and performing production, assembly, and mailing work for nearly 100 companies in their manufacturing training facility. Foothill is the largest employer of persons with disabilities in Pasadena and Northwest Pasadena's largest private employer.
