Photo Release -- Two Northrop Grumman Employees Receive National Women of Color in Technology Awards


LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Diane P. Murray and Karen Evans have been honored with 2005 National Women of Color Awards for managerial leadership and personal achievement.

The 2005 National Women of Color Awards recognize the superior achievements of minority women. For 10 years, the National Women of Color Technology Awards and Conference, a Baltimore-based initiative of publisher Career Communications Group, has recognized the accomplishments of minority women leaders in the fields of technology, engineering and science, and awards those who are making outstanding contributions in their field.

Diane Murray, chief information officer for Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector in Reston, Va., received the Managerial Leadership Award for her role as a business partner in the development of sector plans, as well as in company-wide initiatives that identify and promote information technology (IT)-enabled new business opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions.

Murray leads a team of IT managers and professionals responsible for verifying that the planning and integration of information and office systems, workplace automation and telecommunications are based on corporate-wide technical standards, networks and data formats that provide high reliability, mobility and security of information.

Karen Evans, systems engineer manager for Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector in Azusa, Calif., was awarded the Professional Achievement Award. Evans is a 20-year veteran of the company, and is considered an expert in the field of ballistics and smart submunitions. Her work contributions include serving as the engineering manager and technical lead for the development of Active Protection Systems for the U.S. Army.

Murray and Evans will be honored during the 2005 National Women of Color Technology Awards Conference, October 20-22, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta.
