Telelogic Enhances Enterprise Architecture Solution for Increasing Corporate Agility

Telelogic System Architect Provides Organizations with the Capability to Ensure Optimized Business Processes and IT Alignment Across the Enterprise

MALMO, Sweden and IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 24, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic (Stockholm Exchange:TLOG), the leading provider of software solutions that align advanced systems and software development with business objectives, today announced the forthcoming availability of Telelogic System Architect(R) version 10.3, the industry-leading enterprise architecture and business process management solution. This latest version further extends System Architect's market position and integrates System Architect with Telelogic's solutions for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), providing a complete solution for enterprises to define, design, and deliver optimized business processes, software, products, and services.

Popkin Software, which was acquired by Telelogic in spring 2005, is positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in the Gartner Enterprise Architecture Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools, released on January 6, 2005. According to Gartner, Inc., leaders are vendors who are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. The report is entitled Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools, 4Q04, by Greta James.

"Organizations are focused on being able to easily access, distribute, and communicate architecture information to make educated decisions about technology investments, business processes, customer service models, and compliance requirements," said Ingemar Ljungdahl, Chief Technology Officer at Telelogic. "The need for effective management of organizational assets is critical to sustainable success. The integration of Telelogic System Architect into Telelogic Lifecycle Solutions enables organizations to align their business processes, systems and software with their business objectives."

System Architect enterprise architecture tool is used by organizations worldwide to design, visualize and analyze models and enterprise architectures. These architectures become the blueprints of a company or agency's business goals and processes and its underlying IT infrastructure. System Architect v10.3, takes architecture to a new level through the integration of visualization, analysis and publishing capabilities into a single tool that utilizes industry standard methodologies. Relationships between technology, processes and data can be visually represented and traced back to their original sources, enabling organizations to more quickly understand, analyze and act on technology and business issues.

Key Advances

Enhanced Integration to DOORS and TAU Tighter integration with Telelogic's ALM solutions means requirements from Telelogic DOORS(R), and models in Telelogic TAU(R) and System Architect, can all be viewed side by side in DOORS, and traceability between the requirements and the models can be visually seen and understood. Users now have a toolset that allows for analysis, traceability, and alignment from architecture design, through to system implementation.

Analytics

Analytics enables users to specify and create custom measurements that can be used against their own corporate information. Direct visual analysis of an organizations' Enterprise Architecture leads to an optimized business and an effective, actionable architecture for decision support. System Architect will ship with a number of examples of metrics and visualizations, and in the true spirit of System Architect, has been built in a manner in which users can describe and build their own. Template metrics include activity based costing, application portfolio cost, resource utilization, system complexity. Example visualizations include traffic lights, gauges, heat bars etc.

Oracle Backend Database

System Architect will provide users with a choice of databases, Oracle or SQL Server, to further increase the scalability and support for multiple platforms. The addition of Oracle to the underlying repository further increases the support for an "industrial strength" solution for large, corporate-wide solutions.

Instance-Level Access Control

It is sometimes necessary to restrict access to the information created in the repository to a limited number of individuals.

Additional Repository Management via Data Rollback

Capability Users now have the ability to revert back to any previous entries for a given timeline. When coupled with Instance-Level Access Control, users now have an additional level of granularity through which to maintain accurate access levels and audit trails for objects and their properties.

Extended Reporting Capability

Applications such as Microsoft(R) Excel, Word, Crystal Reports, and others can now be used as reporting tools for users. System Architect provides a virtual flattened set of System Architect tables that the user will instantly recognize as they closely resemble their metamodel in System Architect. Users can choose their favourite application with which to communicate with System Architect.

Customer Comments

"System Architect supports multiple methodologies, a key factor in many projects where business processes must be tied directly back to their underlying technology," said Tom Goodell, president, Integrated Knowledge Systems. "The methodology we have designed and implemented for building sustainable, high performance organizations relies on being able to see the blueprint of what is and what can be. This tool suite delivers a broad graphical view of how people, data and processes interrelate. With that view, our project teams can be much more effective in determining how to improve the way things are done."

Availability and Platform Support

Telelogic System Architect version 10.3 will be available on 23 November 2005 for Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000 Server, and Windows 2003 Server. For more details please visit www.telelogic.com.
