Schools FCU Makes 'People Connection' With Retirees

RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, Calif., March 15, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Schools Federal Credit Union is happy to help retired employees of its primary sponsor maintain connections with each other. After all, who understands the importance of a common bond better than a credit union?

The credit union provides design and production services for People Connection, a quarterly newsletter published by and for the Retired Classified School Employees Association of Southern California. The association serves retirees of the Los Angeles Community College District and Los Angeles Unified School District, Schools FCU's original and core membership groups.

"These people became and have remained lifelong friends through their work," says Terry Janke, President/CEO. "This newsletter allows them to stay in touch with each other regardless of where they have retired to."

People Connection also provides information about meetings and social get-togethers, as well as changes in regulations and policies that can impact retirees.

Aubrey & Associates, Schools FCU's marketing agency, works with the association on the copy, created a new design and produces the newsletter each quarter. The association provides content, and the credit union pays for everything except mailing.

"We have received many compliments about how great the newsletter looks," said Karen Hemingway, association president. "It gives our organization a more professional image and helps attract new members."

Since 1939, Schools Federal Credit Union has served employees of the LA Unified School District and LA Community College District. It has recently expanded to serve students, faculty, staff and alumni of local colleges and universities. It has assets of $110 million with 21,500 members.

Aubrey & Associates is an Anaheim, Calif.-based marketing agency specializing in the credit union field. It has served clients ranging in size from $10 million to well over $1 billion.
