Coram, Inc. to Provide Vivaglobin, New Subcutaneous Immunoglobulin

DENVER, April 12, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Coram, Inc., a leading provider of home infusion and specialty pharmaceutical distribution services, announced today that it has been selected by ZLB Behring as a national provider of Vivaglobin(r) (Immune Globulin Subcutaneous (Human)). Vivaglobin(r) recently became the first and only U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved subcutaneous (SC) immunoglobulin (Ig) treatment and can be safely self-administered by primary immunodeficiency (PI) patients under a physician's care in the United States.

"Our selection by ZLB Behring validates our capabilities not only as a home infusion provider, but as a specialty pharmaceutical distributor," said John Arlotta, Coram's CEO and President. "As one of the country's largest providers of immunoglobulin therapies, we wanted to be there with this breakthrough clinical alternative for our patients and physicians and are grateful to ZLB Behring for their confidence in us. Coram has the requisite knowledge, local reach and clinical experience to deliver superior outcomes with this therapy."

Vivaglobin(r) delivers treatment directly under the skin via a small, portable pump, offering a safe and effective alternative to the intravenous infusion of immunoglobulin, a life-sustaining therapy that has become the standard of care for people living with PI. Vivaglobin(r) represents a new treatment option for patients who suffer intolerable side effects from the IV method or whose veins are difficult to access, such as small children. Vivaglobin(r) is also appropriate for those who want the freedom and convenience of safe home self-administration of Ig replacement therapy. "This milestone achievement means that thousands of patients with primary immunodeficiencies now have a brand new treatment option that was specifically designed to make their lives easier," said Paul Perreault, ZLB Behring Executive Vice President, Worldwide Commercial Operations.

Coram will begin delivering Vivaglobin(r) and related pumps and supplies in March 2006 through its 72 full-service branch pharmacies. In addition, Coram will provide infusion training, support and therapy education from nearly 1,200 staff pharmacists and nurses nationwide.
