EcoPlus, Inc. Offers a Patent-pending Technology and a Turnkey Solution to a High-Profile Wastewater Problem

Over 19,000 U.S. Wastewater Treatment Systems Challenged with Grease Issues Create Incredible Market Opportunities

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 16, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- According to EcoPlus, Inc. (Pink Sheets:ECPL), the sanitary sewer system infrastructure throughout the United States is strangling on grease. America's output of grease and oil as kitchen waste has rocketed to more than 3 billion pounds a year (Source: Wall Street Journal, June 4, 2001). In commercial kitchens, this material is generated from the dishwashers, rinse sinks and floor drains. Unless collected and disposed of, this liquid waste, called either "FOG" (Fats, Oils, and Grease) or "Brown Grease," escapes into the sewer systems. This material has such an impact that three quarters of the sewer systems in the United States work at half capacity due to grease buildup in the lines. Ultimately it can end up in treatment plants choking the processing capacity, as it is toxic to the organisms at the plant that treat the wastewater.

ECPL (www.ecoplusinc.com) has a patent-pending, commercially proven technology that utilizes an environmentally friendly process for turning this restaurant refuse into a high quality, solid fuel product. This product can be used as a coal substitute to produce power, as an adjunct fuel in waste heat to energy and steam plant operations and as a fuel for industrial process heat over a broad range of applications. This option to capture BTUs for energy that are normally wasted is a definite attraction in the tight energy environment of today.

Bill Scherffius, Chief Operating Officer of EcoPlus said, "EcoPlus markets systems that can be tailored to the needs of city, county, or regional wastewater authorities to capture, treat, and dispose of this material before it enters the sanitary sewer system and before it impacts over 19,000 wastewater treatment facilities (Source: EPA 2004) at the 'end of the pipe.' This is a significant, high-need, multimillion-dollar per year target for our technology. Our marketing position is enhanced by our ability to offer tax-exempt, lease-purchase financing that does not constitute debt."
