Hotels Bring 80 New Jobs and 243 New Rooms to the Region

GULFPORT, Miss., May 8, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- A ground breaking for two new Gulf Coast airport hotels will be held May 10th. The event, hosted by J. Levens Builders Inc., Corporex Select Service Hotels, LLC and The Gulfport-Biloxi Airport Authority, celebrates an estimated $40 Million in investments, 80 new jobs and 243 new rooms to the region. The two hotel brands to be built on the site are Residence Inn by Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn. The hotels, which will be strategically located on the north side of Airport Road opposite the main entrance to the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, are the first hotels in the region to receive "GO ZONE" Funding from the U.S. Government.

The location, one mile south of I-10 and immediately east of U.S. highway 49 in Gulfport, MS, provides direct access to the downtown area, as well as nearby resorts and gaming along the Gulf coast. "The location is significant," said Bruce Frallic, Executive Director of the Gulfport-Biloxi Airport, "these hotels are among the final amenities our Airport and community need to become a tier one airport."
