Local Families of Deployed Military Honored With Wellness Weekend

'If You Want to Support Me, Support My Family.' -- Michael Martinez, U.S. Army

DALLAS, Aug. 29, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Deployed Soldiers Family Foundation (DSFF), a Texas 501c3 corporation, is hosting a Wellness Weekend for military families on September 22-23, 2007, at the Sheraton DFW to honor the unsung heroes of the military -- the spouses and children of deployed servicemen.

The weekend consists of breakout classes on practical subjects such as How To Maintain Your Car, Coping With Stress, and Handling Finances In a Practical Manner. The Spouses are also treated to makeovers where they receive manicures, hair styling, makeup, and massages. The children will be taken care of by licensed childcare workers and, depending on their age, will be treated to a special event of their very own.

The weekend will be capped off with an Appreciation Banquet where invited members from the community join the DSFF team for an unforgettable evening honoring our special military families.

DSFF president, Jill Boyce, says that previous Wellness Weekends given for groups from Fort Hood, Texas and the Texas National Guard have been successful in that they have helped raise the morale of the families as well as their deployed loved ones. "We've had great sponsors like The Perot Foundation, Bell Helicopter, and the Clampitt Foundation."

One of the spouses wrote, "The weekend made me realize 'normalcy' does exist -- a healthy and stress-free mommy is a stress-free household."

Another attendee commented, "It made me realize that there are people outside the military family who do care about us and respect the sacrifice both we and our soldiers make. Many times it's easy to forget that."
