Millea Brothers to Auction Strahan Art and Antiques

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Sept. 7, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- On Friday, September 14 at 6:30 pm Michael and Mark Millea of Millea Bros. Ltd. will conduct the auction sale of fine art and antiques removed from the Montclair, New Jersey home of Jean and Michael Strahan.

Following a highly publicized divorce, the New York Giants' five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan and Jean Strahan are selling the contents of their 1906 twelve-room Georgian Revival mansion in Montclair, New Jersey. Purchased by the couple in 2000, the 2.3-acre Montclair property was transformed into a turn-of-the-century show-home by interior designers, landscapers and the Strahans themselves who were consumed with restoring one of Montclair's grand old mansions to its former glory. During this time, the Strahans became avid collectors, amassing the collection of more than 221 pieces of period antique furniture, fine art, carpets and lighting that will come to the auction block in Morristown, New Jersey on September 14.

Interested buyers will have the opportunity to bid on a Victorian bronze-mounted walnut billiards table; a large selection of Victorian period carved oak and walnut bedroom, dining room and library furniture; a pair of large Victorian figural lamps with shades attributed to Tiffany Studios; a variety of antique Persian carpets; antique Louis Vuitton luggage; 18th and 19th Century European and American paintings; a Rococo Revival carved walnut half-tester bed; and a French armchair covered in football-themed toile upholstery.

The auction and auction previews will be held at the Morristown Armory, 430 Western Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960. All property to be sold will be available for preview on Thursday, September 13 from 11am to 8pm and Friday, September 14 from 9am to 6pm.
