Advanced Medical Isotope Corporation Finalizes Contract With Kadlec Medical Center

KENNEWICK, Wash., Oct. 11, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Medical Isotope Corporation (AMIC) (Pink Sheets:ADMD), pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March, 2007, has finalized a sole-source contract with Kadlec Medical Center of Richland, Washington, for the supply of short-lived radioisotopes primarily used in Positron Emission Tomography(PET) as well as for other medical isotopes utilized for diagnostic imaging and for therapeutic applications.

PET is rapidly becoming a preferred scanning technique in medical research which allows for the measurement in great detail of the function of distinct areas of the body while the patient is conscious, comfortable, and alert. A PET scanner utilizes radiation emitted from a patient to develop three dimensional images that assist in diagnosis with greater clarity than Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) alone. Accordingly, PET scans are increasingly utilized alongside computed tomography (CT) and MRI scans. CT and MRI scans isolate organic anatomic changes in the body, while PET scanners are capable of detecting areas of molecular biology detail, sometimes even prior to anatomic change. Utilizing a PET machine, each patient is given a minute amount of a radioactive pharmaceutical such as the most widely used pharmaceutical for this purpose, fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) and results are then generally interpreted by a radiologist or by a nuclear medicine physician to configure the patient's diagnosis and treatment plan. FDG has been used for a variety of purposes, including diagnosis and monitoring the treatment of Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Alzheimer's disease and lung cancer.

CEO William J. Stokes said, "The close proximity of Advanced Medical Isotope Corporation to Kadlec Medical Center is extremely positive for supplying the region's increasing demand of essential medical isotopes. AMIC is a locally based company with a passionate mission to deliver high quality medical isotopes that will assist those in need with attaining a greater quality of life. The support of Kadlec Medical Center is an endorsement of the commitment that both parties have to continue making our region's health care a major priority as this area sees further population growth."

About AMIC

Advanced Medical Isotope Corporation is engaged in the development of advanced production systems and processes for bringing previously unabailable medical isotopes to the marketplace and advancing systems for local product production. The field of nuclear medicine has routinely utilized radioisotopes in the diagnosis of disease while new processes are being pioneered for the targeted treatment of diseases such as cancer in preference to surgical techniques. Advanced Medical Isotope Corporation products support the accessibility to these less invasive therapeutic processes by advancing systems for lower cost production and improving supply availability of medical isotopes to hospitals and clinical treatment centers.
