Bosch Security Systems Selects Techwell's Advanced Security Controllers for Digital Video Quad Processors

One of the World's Leading Suppliers of Equipment for the Global Electronic Protection and Communications Systems Industries Awards Design to Techwell's TW2834

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Techwell, Inc. (Nasdaq:TWLL), a leading designer of mixed signal video semiconductor solutions for the security surveillance, automotive, and consumer electronics markets, today announced that Bosch Security Systems selected Techwell's highly integrated TW2834 four channel video controller solution for use in its LTC 2380/90 and LTC 2382/90 Digital Video Quad Processors. Techwell began mass volume shipments of the TW2834 in 2006. The LTC 238x/90 Digital Video Quad Processors are currently shipping to customers.

"We selected Techwell as a strategic supplier for our advanced LTC 2380/90 and LTC 2382/90 Digital Video Quad Processors because of the company's ability to provide us with a highly integrated, feature-rich security controller for viewing four cameras on a single monitor," said Christopher Muth, product manager, Bosch Security Systems, Inc. "Techwell's controller contributes to our ability to provide customers with high-quality, real time video for surveillance and monitoring."

The TW2834 is designed specifically to target Analog Quad and Multiplexer Security Systems, 4/8/16 Channel Digital Video Recorders (DVR), and Car Rear Vision Systems. It integrates important functions required to display, store and transport analog video signals from security surveillance cameras.

This high level of integration in a single chip consists of four major components, including four high quality NTSC/PAL video decoders, dual color display controllers, dual video encoders and an advanced OSD (On Screen Display). As a result, this IC is able to receive and decode analog video signals from multiple cameras into a standard digital format, reducing the footprint of power consumption for our customer's designs. In addition, the TW2834 embeds an ITU 656 interface, Channel ID encoder and decoder, and Motion Detection circuitry, producing enhanced sharpness and contrast critical in next generation systems. With built in anti-aliasing filters and high quality comb filters to reduce cross-noise, the TW2834 is an ideal high performance and cost effective solution for Digital Video Recorders (DVR), Quad and Multiplexers.

Bosch's LTC 238x/90 Digital Video Quad Processors use Techwell's TW2834 for the latest integrated technology to produce high quality, real time video in both Full and Quad Screen Modes. The video processor auto detects the applicable video standard, PAL or NTSC, and configures itself accordingly. In addition, the unit will detect color or black-and-white cameras and configure itself accordingly.

"Techwell has made a determined effort through R&D, partnerships and close collaborations with customers to develop the most versatile and feature rich security surveillance ICs for managing rich and complex Digital Video Recorders (DVR) and Quad/Multiplexers systems," said David Nam, VP Sales and Marketing for Techwell. "We are extremely pleased that a world leader -- Bosch Security Systems -- chose our TW2834 high performance, scalable four channel video controller solution and look forward to continuing to provide them with superior support and next generation products."
