Photo Release -- Msnbc.com Launches Newly Designed Website

Creative Design Fused With Innovative Technology Delivers a New Way to Experience News

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 12, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Today, msnbc.com unveiled its newly designed website featuring an innovative flexible layout and customizable sections, providing consumers with a rich interactive and multimedia news experience. The new design is a continuation of msnbc.com's award-winning brand initiative launched in April 2007, aimed at delivering a fuller spectrum of news.

The new flexible design allows msnbc.com to continually make creative layout decisions and change the top stories to reflect the pace of each day's news. Big breaking news stories and features -- often powerfully conveyed through video and photos -- are no longer restricted to a confined space. Consumers now get visually rich and compelling stories that are reflective of the current news environment, enhanced by a mix of videos, slideshows and photos.

"This redesign is based on what our users asked for," said Jennifer Sizemore, editor in chief at msnbc.com. "They wanted content to be easy to find, and they wanted control over how they consumed it. No other news website offers this customized experience. Now we can better showcase the best journalism in the business."

Consumers are empowered to construct their own news experience on msnbc.com. The new design allows readers to collapse or expand sections to show anywhere from zero to 15 stories in each section. Readers can also customize the page by arranging sections in any order they prefer. A new wider design spans the width of the page, providing consumers with a wide screen view of the site that is easier to navigate and search. The new "Explore" section lets consumers easily click on tabs and browse a collection of headlines, videos, or photos from across the entire site. Consumers can "pin" their favorite tab to always appear on top. Msnbc.com furthers personalization by providing users with a localized weather report, now a prominent feature on the top of the homepage.

To experience a fuller spectrum of news, consumers can log on to the new msnbc.com.
