Prestigious 'Connecticut Flower & Garden Show' to Fill Hartford's Connecticut Convention Center On February 21--24

Will Feature 25 Different Gardens and the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut's Annual Competition


HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 3, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- One of the most prestigious flower and garden shows in all of New England, the "27th Annual Connecticut Flower & Garden Show" will be held Thursday, February 21 through Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the Connecticut Convention Center on 100 Columbus Ave. in Hartford, Conn.

The entire Connecticut Flower & Garden Show will be nearly three acres large! Highlights include:



 * A record 25 different spacious gardens, created by professional
   landscape designers and non-profit organizations, filling 45,000
   square feet of the Exhibit Hall. Featured will be water gardens
   and oriental gardens.

 * The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut's Standard Flower Show,
   more than 12,000 square feet of design and horticulture competition.
   This year's theme is "Once Upon a Time."

 * More than 80 hours of seminars by experienced horticulturists and
   experts on a wide variety of topics including landscape design,
   butterfly gardens, floral arrangements, and historic gardens are all
   free with admission. Celebrity presenters include: national author
   and TV personality Melinda Myers of PBS's "Great Lakes Gardener" and
   the syndicated TV show "Melinda's Garden Moments"; author and
   designer Penelope O'Sullivan, who writes for many of America's
   horticultural magazines; nationally renowned architectural and
   garden photographer Karen Bussolini; lecturer Stan Megos, owner of
   Connecticut's Variegated Foliage Nursery; and Deborah Kent,
   president of Glastonbury Partners in Planting, Inc., a non-profit
   organization that focuses on horticultural education and
   beautification.

 * More than 200 displays and activities, and aisles filled with fresh
   flowers, plants, garden ornaments, herbs, bulbs, seeds, fertilizers,
   soils, gardening books, patio furniture, ornaments and lawn
   equipment, most of which are available for purchase. People can
   bring 1/2 cup of soil to the University of Connecticut Co-op booth
   for free soil testing.
