RIDGEWOOD, N.J., Feb. 20, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Americans now spend $41 billion a year on their pets -- more than the gross domestic product of all but 64 countries in the world. And Packaged Facts, a consumer research company, expects spending to increase to $52 billion in the next two years.

Enter Global Pet Expo -- the pet industry's largest annual trade show devoted to showing off the latest and greatest new products for pets to thousands of pet retailers. This year's expo was bigger and better than ever. From products that enhance pets' health -- to those that make their lives more fun, it was all at this year's show.

Karen "Doc" Halligan, author and veterinarian, picked some of her personal favorites for this year's show. Halligan appears regularly on Animal Planet and Animal Rescue 911 and television news shows throughout the country.
