FieldTurf Manufacturing Plant Sets World Record for Synthetic Turf Production in One Week

DALTON, Ga., May 14, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- FieldTurf Tarkett has recently set a world record for the amount of synthetic turf produced in one week. The equivalent of 3 full sized fields per day over 7 days, 1.6 million square feet of FieldTurf was produced by FieldTurf's manufacturing plant in Dalton, GA during a one week span in April. All of FieldTurf Tarkett's tufting machines are working efficiently and producing the highest quality turf in the industry. FieldTurf's state-of-the-art plant is expected to hit the 2 million square feet per week milestone this summer.

The 110,000 square foot facility is an impressive site by anyone's standards. With over 35 employees totaling well over 300 years of experience in the artificial turf industry, the plant features almost a dozen tufting machines with a capacity to produce hundreds of thousands of square feet of turf each day. FieldTurf, at full capacity, has the capability to supply approximately 2500 fields per year, which is the equivalent to triple the entire yearly North American demand for artificial turf fields.

To ensure FieldTurf Tarkett's standards are unmatched, a rigorous quality control process based on extensive testing and inspections, is undertaken with every field that is put into production.

The FieldTurf manufacturing facility is a big reason why FieldTurf Tarkett is the number one choice of professional teams, high schools, colleges and facility managers around the world. FieldTurf Tarkett's ability to ensure the quality of its raw materials and its manufacturing from start to finish is the reason why it enjoys the best record for on-time delivery of its projects, even though it enjoys a market share that is greater than all its competitors combined.

Not to be outdone, FieldTurf Tarkett's European equivalent of its Dalton plant is located in Auchel, France. During 2005, the plant produced 4.2 million sq meters (just under 13.8 million sq. ft) of inspected turf. This includes large and small fields for an average of approximately 450 large fields. With the recent enhancements, renovations, and added capacity, the Auchel plant is expected to produce 550 fields/year in the coming years.
