New hydrogen contract in Berlin

Raufoss Fuel Systems has secured a new contract for the delivery of hydrogen containers for a hydrogen filling station in Berlin. The contract's value is approximately 3 MNOK. This is the third hydrogen filling station that Raufoss Fuel Systems has supplied containers to in 2009.

The agreement shows that the Hexagon Group is the world leader in the development and production of high-pressure composite containers. Storage of hydrogen under high pressure is currently the most realistic storage method for the practical use of hydrogen for both vehicles and filling stations.

Hydrogen as a fuel is a political priority as one of several energy carriers of the future for transportation both in Norway and internationally. Large international research and development programs have started up, and the first small demonstration programs have been conducted.

In order for hydrogen to become a real alternative fuel, there needs to be a larger development of infrastructure to make hydrogen more available in the market. Major players in the European market have therefore engaged in the necessary development of infrastructure, applying to the transport, production and storage of hydrogen. This is expected to result in increased demand for the systems that Raufoss Fuel Systems has developed for the transport and stationary storage of hydrogen.

Norway, Germany, Japan and USA are pioneers in putting hydrogen to use as an energy carrier.
