Del Papa Distributing Company Celebrates 100th Anniversary

Del Papa Marks Milestone With a Year-Long Celebration

GALVESTON, TX--(Marketwire - June 25, 2009) - Del Papa Distributing Company is approaching an extraordinary milestone -- the company will celebrate its 100th year of business in 2010. Del Papa is announcing plans to mark this tremendous achievement with a year full of events commemorating its extensive history and admirable accomplishments. The year-long celebration will chronicle the company's history and weave it with the stories of its founding family and employees, the communities they serve and its first major supplier, Anheuser-Busch.

"This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event -- an opportunity few people or companies ever get to experience," said Larry Del Papa, President and CEO. "When my grandfather founded this company 100 years ago, I'm not sure he could have foreseen the level of success we would achieve. I want to thank the generations of employees for contributing their time and labor to this effort. Without their commitment to quality, hard work and loyalty throughout the years, none of this would be possible."

Del Papa Distributing Company was founded in 1910 in Galveston, TX by Omero Del Papa Sr. as O. Del Papa Commission Co. Omero, an immigrant from Tuscany, Italy, converted his retail grocery business, which he had opened in 1903, into the wholesale establishment that would ultimately become today's company.

Today, Del Papa Distributing Company serves three major Texas markets: Galveston, Beaumont and Victoria. Their service area includes 17 Texas counties: Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, DeWitt, Galveston, Hardin, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Lavaca, Liberty, Matagorda, Newton, Orange, Sabine, Victoria and Wharton.

The programs and events celebrating this remarkable milestone will include:

100th Anniversary Logo

Del Papa has unveiled a special logo to commemorate its 100th year. This logo will be worn and displayed by employees throughout the year as they celebrate their contribution to the company's history and achievements.

Scholarship endowments

Del Papa plans to initiate a territory-wide college scholarship fund that endows all community and four year colleges in the seventeen counties that Del Papa serves.

Historical campaign

Del Papa will reach out to surrounding communities with its "On This Day in History" historical campaign which will tie the history of the company to the important history of the Texas Gulf Coast. A special newsletter will give employees the opportunity to trace their roles in the history of Del Papa and a special edition newspaper insert will feature events in Del Papa Distributing's three major markets.

Three celebratory events

Del Papa Distributing will wrap up 2010 with three separate events in each of its major markets: the first in Victoria on October 23; the second in Beaumont on November 6; and the final event in Galveston on November 13.

While 2010 festivities will celebrate Del Papa Distributing's success and accomplishments of the past, it will also serve as a bridge to the future as the company looks forward to the next 100 years.
