Fortress Technologies' Secure Wireless Bridge Incorporated Into Joint Readiness Training Center Validated Solution

Company Teams With Smartronix, Luxul Wireless on Rapidly Deployable Wireless Networking Kit

LANSDOWNE, VA--(Marketwire - July 28, 2009) - Fortress Technologies, the leader in secure tactical wireless communications, today announced that its Secure Wireless Bridges are a core component of an operationally validated solution tested during a Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) mission readiness exercise. The solution, known as LastLink™, is a rapidly deployable system that provides robust and convenient wireless networking capabilities with integrated federally-compliant security protocols.

"U.S. military personnel work in some of the most daunting environments, creating challenges to securely and efficiently exchange information," said Janet Kumpu, President, Fortress. "LastLink is an easy-to-use self contained kit that provides the secure voice, video, and data connectivity required for today's net-centric military operations. LastLink allows network extension of more than 30 miles, enabling forward deployed troops to remain connected."

LastLink is a scalable turn-key solution that incorporates Fortress' Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) validated Secure Wireless Bridges, Luxul Wireless' Shock-WAV™ Frequency Translating Amplifiers (FTAs) and antennas, as well as Smartronix ruggedized components and packaging. The solution provides:

-- Secure point-to-point/point-to-multi-point connectivity over 802.11a
    and 4.4-4.6 GHz military bands
-- Secure wide area Wi-Fi coverage over 802.11b/g
-- Fixed and mobile mesh networking
-- Video surveillance operations
-- Multi-port Ethernet switching

"LastLink performed effectively and enabled us to provide a long-range wireless Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) connection to a forward deployed battalion," said SSG Barrett Overton, a battalion communications chief in the 82d Airborne Division. "We were able to extend our network six miles to support the operation."

"We are pleased to team with Fortress and Luxul on this effort due to their leadership positions in the industry and their proven track records supporting the Department of Defense," said Steve Bishop, Director of Engineering Solutions, Smartronix. "Performing successfully during operational validation at JRTC, LastLink is proven to work in forward deployed areas. We are excited at the new capabilities this solution delivers to our military customers."
