Phase2 Technology's Semantic News and Topic Monitoring Tool, "Tattler" Starts Beta

Open Source Topic Monitoring Tool Semantically Mines for and Aggregates Information From a Wide Range of News, Social Media Including Blogs and Twitter Feeds

ALEXANDRIA, VA--(Marketwire - August 27, 2009) - Phase2 Technology announced today the Beta launch of Tattler (app), a powerful tool to uncover and track information from news publications, blogs, and social media outlets including Twitter. Using semantic web technologies, Tattler mines the Internet for mentions of the topics a user chooses.

A key group of news and social media thought-leaders will begin use of Tattler this week, and downloads of source code will be available to the public in late September 2009.

"Enthusiasm about Tattler has been overwhelming, and we are working hard to incorporate feedback and ideas into the public launch," stated Irakli Nadareishveli, Director of Product Development at Phase2.

Tattler is a powerful tool for the news and information industries. It allows users to find key opinions from citizens and thought-leaders and determine what is driving topical buzz and trends. Built and distributed on the popular open source content management platform, Drupal, Tattler's toolset of intelligent content processors allow users to easily filter, organize, and take action on content gathered from the web.

"We feel Tattler pushes topic-monitoring forward because it is a community project that has the potential to put Drupal and open-source technology in front of more people," said Jeff Walpole, CEO, Phase2 Technology. "Like our other projects, we will release this code back to the Drupal community and hope others will participate in its development."
