Component Changes Made to Dow Jones STOXX Balkan 50 Equal-Weighted and Dow Jones STOXX TMI Style Indexes


ZURICH, Switzerland, Sept. 7, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- STOXX Ltd., the leading provider of European equity indexes, today announced the results of the annual review of the Dow Jones STOXX Balkan 50 Equal-Weighted Index as well as the results of the second regular semi-annual review of the Dow Jones STOXX Style Indexes. The changes will be effective on September 21, 2009.

The following stocks will be added to the Dow Jones STOXX Balkan 50 Equal-Weighted Index: SOCIETATEA NATIONALA DE TRANSPORT GAZE NATURALE TRANSGAZ S.A. (Romania, Oil & Gas, TGN.RO) and MERCATOR D.D. (Slovenia, Retail, MELR.LJ).

The companies exiting the index are: IMPACT BUCARESTI (Romania, Construction & Material, IMP.RO) and GORENJE VELENJE D.D. (Slovenia, Personal & Household Goods, GRVG.LJ).

As of August 31, 2009 the total free-float market capitalization of the Dow Jones STOXX Balkan 50 Equal Weighted Index is EUR 67.671 billion.

STOXX Ltd. also announced changes in the composition of its style indexes, the Dow Jones STOXX TMI Growth and Dow Jones STOXX TMI Value indexes, the respective large, mid and small sub-indexes and strong style indexes as well as the respective indexes for the euro zone.

The Dow Jones STOXX Style Indexes include three categories: growth, value and neutral. Effective with the opening of European markets on September 21, 2009 the number of components in the Dow Jones STOXX TMI Growth Index will decrease to 316 from previously 349 components, and the number of components in the Dow Jones STOXX TMI Value Index will increase to 332 from 318 components while components in the neutral category will increase to 275 from 250.

The three largest components measured by free-float market capitalization that will be added to the Dow Jones STOXX Growth Indexes are CREDIT SUISSE GROUP (Switzerland, Banks, CSGN.VX), ROCHE HOLDING AG (Switzerland, Health Care, ROG.VX) and SIEMENS AG (Germany, Industrial goods & Services, SIE.XE).

The three largest companies measured by free-float market capitalization that will be added to the Dow Jones STOXX Value Indexes are ASTRAZENECA PLC (U.K., Health Care, AZN.LN), BANCO SANTANDER S.A. (Spain, Banks, SAN.MC) and GDF SUEZ S.A. (France, Utilities, GSZ.FR).

No style reclassification from the growth to value and value to growth categories will be made in this review.

Reasons for component changes in the Dow Jones STOXX Growth and Value Indexes can be the change of style characteristics of an index component from growth to value or vice versa as well as addition of a component stock as the result of the stocks' Initial Public Offering (IPO).

The new composition of the Dow Jones STOXX Balkan 50 Equal-Weighted, Dow Jones STOXX Style and Dow Jones STOXX Strong Style indexes, as well as further information on the indexes, can be found at www.stoxx.com.

The underlying component data -- new numbers of shares and free-float factors -- will be announced on September 11, 2009 and reflect all corporate actions effective before the above changes are implemented on the third Friday of September (September 18). The changes will be effective on the next trading day, September 21, 2009.
