Previously, Nelson directed Sprint's Public Sector of Wireless Applications for Higher Education, Healthcare and Utilities and was recognized as Sprint Nextel #1 manager in the US, and received the 2007 Sprint "Most entrepreneurial" award. Nelson is a Founding Member for Wireless Applications in Health Care (CPAHC), member of Mobile Health Initiative, TEPR, NY Venture Capital Group among others, and is on the Wireless IT Graduate Curriculum Committee at Marist College.
