NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - February 1, 2010) - America's culinary chops wowed judges once
again during the fourth annual Rías Baixas Albariño Recipe Pairing Contest,
a challenge that pairs amateur chefs' original recipes with Spain's famed
white wine. This year, stakes were high with contestants vying for a chance
to steal the limelight at the 36th Annual People's Choice Awards®, which
took place on January 6 in Los Angeles, California.
Libby Walp of Chicago, Illinois took home the Grand Prize for her Shrimp in
Spiced Broth recipe. Libby was awarded an all-inclusive trip to the 36th
Annual People's Choice Awards® in Los Angeles that included dinner for
two at The Bazaar restaurant at SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, a José Andrés
project. Walp beat out over 250 entries in this year's competition with
her quick, easy and budget-friendly recipe. "I feel that Albariño is the
perfect accompaniment to this seafood dish as the wine possesses an acidity
that balances the spicy broth beautifully," says Walp, "I was pleased to
find out that the judges agreed with me and was thrilled to be rewarded
with an amazing trip to the People's Choice Awards!"
