VCAS 3 Offering Expands Boundaries of Conditional Access to Enhance Operators' Competitive Profile, Helps Attract and Retain Subscribers

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - April 8, 2010) -   NAB 2010, Booth #SU1926 --

WHO: Verimatrix enhances the value and security of pay-TV networks with advanced software-based technologies designed to address the challenges facing the pay-TV industry of today, and anticipate the challenges of tomorrow. The Verimatrix 3-Dimensional Content Security approach provides a framework to enhance operator competitiveness and the consumer experience in the new world of pay-TV.

WHAT: Verimatrix will be demonstrating how the VCAS 3 core architecture enables digital video delivery on multiple networks and screens from a unified security head-end. The enhanced security platform broadens the domain of traditional conditional access and content protection to include the broader perspective of revenue security.

Product Focus:
DVB Hybrid Network Model -- VCAS for DVB, illustrated by a deployment on a sophisticated DVB hybrid network at TelstraClear, will be on display. Developed in partnership with the operator and Digisoft, a custom hybrid set-top box (STB) supports DVB-C and IP services with DVR and interactive applications and emphasizes the features and capabilities of this type of network service.

Internet TV (OTT) Delivery Model -- A key focus of the VCAS 3 technology is the ability to support premium video services over unmanaged networks. Illustrating this format-independent delivery capability will be demonstrations of VCAS protected HTTP adaptive rate streaming of live and on-demand video to the PC, Mac, iPhone, an embedded STB and the new iPad.

Multi-DRM Model -- Verimatrix's commitment to digital media standards development, including involvement with groups such as DECE and the Open IPTV Forum, will be illustrated with a multi-device delivery and content sharing demo emphasizing commercial maturity of the Marlin-based DRM system. Marlin server components are an integrated part of Verimatrix's MultiRights™ solution, which enables transparent rights management across a range of off-the-shelf devices for streamlined multi-network and multi-device operations.
