Bob Cutler, CEO of Creative Consumer Concepts (C3), said that this is not an issue that requires government involvement. "Banning toys will not solve the obesity issue. Supervisor Eric Mar, chief sponsor of the legislation, has crossed the line. It is a parent's responsibility to choose nutritious food for their child. When the government tries to ban toys or force people to eat a certain way, it is a blatant attempt to limit consumer choice. These government officials are not representing their constituents. If they keep this up, they will not be re-elected," said Cutler.

Daniel Conway, director of public affairs for the California Restaurant Association (http://www.calrest.org/go/CRA/), said in a recent interview that, "Toy bans are only proven to disappoint kids, frustrate parents and generate headlines for ambitious politicians. The Board of Supervisors needs to stop gorging on political gimmicks and instead focus on creating jobs in their city." (http://tinyurl.com/2csr993)

Additionally, the San Francisco Chronicle article states that the San Francisco toy ban will have a far greater impact than the Santa Clara County Kids Meal Toy Ban bill which passed in May 2010.
