Anheuser-Busch Announces Super Bowl Advertising Lineup; Budweiser Clydesdales Ad to Be Previewed During NFC/AFC Title Games

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - January 21, 2011) -  Anheuser-Busch will debut five new creative spots for three of its leading brands during FOX's broadcast of Super Bowl XLV on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, marking the company's 23rd consecutive season as the game's exclusive malt beverage category advertiser.

Budweiser and Bud Light, the nation's two best-selling beer brands, will take their familiar places on the grandest stage in advertising. Joining them in this year's lineup and making its debut in Anheuser-Busch's Super Bowl lineup is import brand Stella Artois.

"When you consider the number of adult beer drinkers who tune in to see the game -- and the commercials -- this is where our brands have a starring role," said Dave Peacock, president, Anheuser-Busch. "We're excited to build on the success Budweiser and Bud Light have enjoyed during Super Bowl's past and are excited about the potential this opportunity holds for an up-and-coming brand like Stella Artois."

Keeping with Super Bowl tradition, "Wild West" features the world renowned Budweiser Clydesdales. They will be joined this year by a co-star, actor Peter Stormare, who plays a thirsty gunslinger with an itchy trigger-finger.

In a first for Budweiser, 15-second versions of the ad will air during Sunday's NFC and AFC Championship Games on FOX and CBS, to build anticipation for the story to be told on Super Sunday. The brand also will release an iAd after the Big Game on Monday, Feb. 7 that will feature behind-the-scenes footage; free iTunes downloads of the popular song included in the spot; and a 24-hour takeover of all iPhone applications, accessible to adults 25 years of age or older.

"Budweiser brings people together, and the Super Bowl is certainly one of those occasions," said Rob McCarthy, vice president of Budweiser, Anheuser-Busch. "We think people will enjoy the ad and we look forward to sharing a taste of it with fans two weeks before Super Sunday."

"Wild West" was produced for Budweiser by Anomaly (New York).

Bud Light will continue to deliver the fun and good times brought by its "Here We Go" campaign with three new ads. DDB (Chicago) and Cannonball (St. Louis) produced the Bud Light ads set to appear in the brand's Super Bowl lineup.

Stella Artois, the original Belgian-style lager and one of the fastest growing import brands in the country, will make its Super Bowl ad debut in the form of the latest spot from its "She is a Thing of Beauty" campaign. The ad was produced by Mother (London).

Details of the Bud Light and Stella Artois ads will be revealed in the near future.

Immediately following the Super Bowl, all five spots will be available for online viewing. The Budweiser and Bud Light ads will be available on the websites, Facebook pages, mobile sites and YouTube pages of each brand. The Stella Artois ad will be available on the brand's U.S. website and Facebook page, as well as its "La Societe" website and Facebook page.
