ServiceMaster Recovery Management to Serve Large Loss Catastrophic Market

Expands Qualified Disaster Response Portfolio, Hires Industry-Leading Experts

MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 27, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ServiceMaster announced today that it is refocusing efforts and resources on its ServiceMaster Recovery Management (SRM) division, a group specializing in commercial large-loss catastrophes in excess of $500,000, by expanding the number of qualified expert businesses for the company's large loss disaster response capabilities. The company has tapped three of the industry's most accomplished veterans in Mark Fischer, Kyle Tomlin and Jimmy Weatherly, to chart the unit's course domestically and abroad.

Fischer, Tomlin and Weatherly will be making personal appearances and will be available for media interviews during this year's Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) conference in Vancouver, May 1 – 5. The company welcomes the media and all other interested parties to stop by booth # 1801 to learn more about SRM and how it will be impacting the large-loss category. The company's 53-ft. mobile onsite CAT event command center—the Clean Machine—will also be on hand on the RIMS expo show floor.

ServiceMaster Recovery Management specializes in minimizing business interruption in the event of unexpected floods, fires or acts of nature so that companies may rapidly return to pre-loss conditions. With management experience in 27 different countries on significant disasters, including clean-up after Hurricane Katrina and the Pentagon after September 11, 2001, ServiceMaster is a recognized leader in large commercial disaster recovery efforts.

"We are extremely excited about where we're headed, and feel certain that ServiceMaster Recovery Management has brought on the type of leadership that will best help us address any large-loss challenge, anywhere in the world," said Bobby Lewis, vice president commercial disaster restoration operations and account management for ServiceMaster. "Mark, Kyle and Jimmy are some of the most battle-tested professionals this industry has ever known. They know how to operate successfully under extreme duress."

The veritable Who's Who roster brings more than a half-century's worth of experience to the table, with skill sets as varied as the number of catastrophes they have managed. Industries served include, but are not limited to construction, manufacturing, medical, retail, industrial, telecommunications, military and hospitality.

Fischer's 21 years of experience has taken him to recovery missions in Mexico, the Czech Republic, Indonesia and Australia. He specializes in the restoration of documents, electronics, machinery and media and was involved in Hurricanes Ivan ('04), Charley ('04), Frances ('04), Katrina ('05) and Ike ('07). Fischer operates out of Minneapolis.

Based in Sacramento, Tomlin's areas of expertise include document, mechanical and mold restoration. He's seen 14 years in the field, logging extensive time in Western Europe and the Caribbean. Tomlin has worked Hurricanes Bonnie ('98), George ('98), Charley ('04), Frances ('04) and Ike ('07). He also worked Ground Zero following the 9/11 attacks.

Weatherly operates out of Memphis, and is an expert in structural drying, as well as equipment, machinery and mold (up to $56 million contract value) restoration. In the business for nearly 20 years, his international recovery efforts have taken him to Canada, Guam, Jamaica and Mexico.

"This is an amazing organization with a sound plan for the future," said Weatherly, managing director of ServiceMaster Recovery Management. "With our coverage and capabilities, I am confident that we can provide the fastest response and best service to our customers in times where they have the biggest needs."
