CLC Concludes Successful Convention in Vancouver: Georgetti, Other Executive Officers Reelected

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 13, 2011) - The Canadian Labour Congress has successfully wrapped up its 26^th Constitutional Convention, which occurred in Vancouver between May 9^th and 13^th. The convention attracted 2500 delegates and visitors and its theme was "Good Jobs. Better Lives. Unions make a difference."

In his keynote address CLC president Ken Georgetti called on the labour movement to use every form of traditional and new media available to tell its story. He said that all Canadians benefit from strong unions promoting greater economic security and equity for all. Those media themes were also echoed by several panels whose participants included guests from within but also outside of the labour movement.

Jack Layton, leader of the New Democratic Party and of the Official Opposition, spoke to the convention on Wednesday, May 11^th.

Georgetti, along with CLC Executive Vice-Presidents Barbara Byers and Marie Clarke Walker, and Secretary-Treasurer Hassan Yussuff were all acclaimed by convention delegates to another three-year term.
