WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., June 16, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Empire Film Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:EFGU) currently has several projects that the company has in pre-production and the company plans to produce in 2011. The projects will be produced in conjunction with Tayrona Entertainment along with other international distributors and partners.
The first project will be the previously announced feature film "Havana Heat." Final cast negotiations and production schedules with star talent should be completed soon with production scheduled to begin this summer. The project will be filmed in Cartagena, Colombia and a start date will be announced shortly. Recently at the Cannes Film Festival Constantin Films of Germany announced that they have acquired several international rights on the project.
The Company is completing financing arrangements for the feature film "Did U Get My Text." The project will be filmed in Toronto with pre-production to begin in July. Talent negotiations and offers are currently under way and locations have been selected by key production personnel. The film was written by Jaleel White who played "Urkle" on the ABC hit television series "Family Matters."
Empire is in negotiations with several international sales agencies on the 22 episode television series based on the "Havana Heat" feature film. The television series will be produced immediately following the completion of the feature film and also produced in Cartagena, Colombia. The project will be produced as Canada Co-Production to take advantage of the tax incentives and rebates available.
