Native American Fair Commerce Coalition Retains Barry W. Brandon as Strategic Advisor

Noted Native American Attorney and Advocate to Represent NAFCC on the Issue of Tribal Sovereign Rights in the Nation's Capital

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Aug 18, 2011) - The Native American Fair Commerce Coalition (NAFCC) has retained Barry W. Brandon as Strategic Advisor.

Brandon, a respected attorney and advocate for the Native American community nationwide, will represent the NAFCC in Washington DC in support of the organization's campaigns to promote tribal economic development and sovereignty rights.

Brandon is the Founder and President of Hvmken Consulting, a consulting firm committed to assisting Native American tribes in the area of economic development. An enrolled member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Brandon brings over 20 years of professional experience in the areas of federal Indian law and policy to his assignment with the NAFCC. Brandon has served as a Senior Trial Attorney at the United States Department of Justice and held high ranking positions at the United States Department of the Interior and the National Indian Gaming Commission. He also served as a partner at the law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld, and held the position of Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Seneca Gaming Corporation.

"The sovereignty of Tribal governments is what distinguishes American Indians from all other racial and ethnic groups in the United States. However, even though we enjoy this unique status, American Indians continue to lag far behind all groups in the country in regards to health, education and economic development opportunities. The NAFCC is dedicated to protecting our valuable rights that we have worked so hard to retain and also seeks to develop and promote new opportunities for Indian Country. I am pleased to be a part of such a dynamic organization," said Brandon.

"As the NAFCC continues our mission of Native American rights protection, we seek to recruit the most experienced and effective advocates for our cause. Barry Brandon is such an individual. Deeply dedicated to the economic growth of Native Americans, Barry brings unparalleled expertise and an impressive network of business and governmental leaders to his advocacy work on behalf of the NAFCC. We look forward to working with Barry, a leader and visionary who will work every day on behalf of Native Americans," said Darold Stagner, Executive Director of the NAFCC.
