BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Nov. 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Burke, Harvey & Frankowski LLC ("BHF") announces the commencement of an investigation into LHC Group Inc. ("LHC" or the "Company") relating to the Company's disclosure of an investigation and settlement between LHC and the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services concerning certain allegations that LHC submitted claims between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008 to MEDICARE, TRICARE and FEHBP that were not reimbursable.
As a result of the investigation by U.S. Department of Justice and Department of Health and Human Service, a settlement was reached requiring LHC to pay $65 million plus interest. We are investigating whether the Board and certain officers of the Company were aware of and properly managed its business units which were responsible for submitting claims to the MEDICARE, TRICARE and FEHBP programs.
