A yearly honor, the Outstanding Corporation award recognizes the significant contributions of an organization that enables the Special Olympics to fulfill their mission of empowering people with intellectual disabilities to realize their full potential and develop their skills through year-round sports training and competition.

"WSFS Bank is honored to be recognized by the Special Olympics of Delaware," said Janis L. Julian, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Strategy. "It is part of our core mission to reach beyond the boundaries of our business and give our time and resources to such meaningful organizations as the Special Olympics and help improve the lives of the communities in which we serve."

Over the past five years, WSFS Bank has been the presenting sponsor of the Special Olympics' New Castle County Basketball Skills competition. Each year, over 50 WSFS Associates participate in the day-long event, aiding athletes competing in the three basic skills of basketball: dribbling, passing and shooting. The Associates also are responsible for decorations and awards, as well as bringing enthusiasm and spirit to help ensure a memorable competition.

"The New Castle County Basketball Skills competition is undoubtedly one of our Associates' favorite volunteer opportunities," said Glen Outten, Vice President of Commercial Banking and Special Olympics liaison. "Time and time again, Associates leave the competition feeling as though they receive so much more out of the day and are forever touched by the spirit and determination of the athletes."
