Healthyroads Creates Health Management Program for Lenovo

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 15, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Healthyroads, Inc., the total population health management subsidiary of national health services organization American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH), announced that it has been selected by Lenovo, the world's #2 PC maker, to provide its award-winning services to nearly 2,000 employees and their spouses in the United States.

The Healthyroads® Program is customizable and provides a wide range of personal health solutions—including award-winning telephone-based lifestyle and health coaching programs, member engagement promotion programs, incentive management programs, competitive challenges, worksite wellness programs, and an integrated online health improvement portal, Healthyroads.com.

Services available to Lenovo on Healthyroads.com include a variety of nutrition and exercise planners, an online library of articles on hundreds of health-related topics, e-coaching courses, an assortment of health trackers, and more. Access to these tools is included as part of Healthyroads members' benefits packages.

In addition to the tools on Healthyroads.com, members also have access to a Personal Health Assessment (PHA). The PHA provides members with a health score, a detailed report on their current health, and suggestions for healthy living. Members can use this tool to create a comprehensive health improvement plan.

Lenovo employees also have access to a line of Healthyroads Personal Health Coaching programs for Weight Management, Tobacco Cessation, Stress Management, and Health Improvement. The award-winning service pairs members with Healthyroads Coaches who provide telephone-based motivational and goal-oriented coaching to help members make healthier choices.

The Healthyroads Coaching® Program has been shown to produce positive ROI for businesses that effectively utilize it. A collaboration of the ASH health services team, Ron Goetzel, PhD, and the Thomson Reuters research team found, for example, that Healthyroads telephone health coaching reduced employee health risks and produced a positive 1.17 to 1.00 return on investment. The article, "Using a Return-on-Investment (ROI) Estimation Model to Evaluate Outcomes from an Obesity Management Worksite Health Promotion Program," appeared in the September 2008 Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

"Recognized as one of the world's top companies to work for, we're dedicated not only to building exciting career opportunities for our employees, but also helping them achieve a healthy lifestyle with a strong work-life balance," said Nicole Barnes, Director, Global Benefits, Lenovo. "Utilizing the robust and customizable health and wellness features of the Healthyroads program is one way we're helping to improve the long-term health of our employees."

"Lenovo has demonstrated that it is committed to helping its nearly 2,000 employees and their spouses learn how to improve their health," ASH CEO and chairman George DeVries said. "By providing its employees and spouses the tools they need, Lenovo has taken the first steps in helping to build a fitter, healthier, and more productive company, which is extremely important to reducing the overall cost of health care and its impact on the business bottom line."
