New Survey From Hogan Assessments Shows What Employees Really Think About Their Bosses

Survey Results Highlight the Qualities That Separate the Best and Worst Bosses

TULSA, OK--(Marketwire - Mar 27, 2012) - The relationship between employees and their bosses is one of the most studied and discussed topics in business, psychology and popular media. Yet, it remains one of the least understood. Hogan Assessment Systems, a global leader in personality research and leadership development, recently surveyed 1,000 people to provide insight into this important subject.

Hogan asked respondents to consider past and current managers and identify the defining characteristics of their best and worst bosses. Results showed that respondents most commonly identified bad bosses as arrogant, manipulative and emotionally volatile. Great bosses were most often described as trustworthy, responsible, inspirational and remaining calm under pressure.

"Poor leadership causes reduced engagement, increased turnover and even poor health among employees. With research showing that more than half of people currently in leadership positions will fail, it is important to understand what makes employees love or despise their managers," said Hogan Director of Marketing Natalie Tracy. "With a better understanding of what separates good leaders from bad, organizations can take a closer look at who is in charge."
