'Chasing Ice' Star to Speak at SNS Future in Review (FiRe) 2012 Conference

FRIDAY HARBOR, WA--(Marketwire - Apr 3, 2012) - Strategic News Service is proud to announce that 'Chasing Ice' has been selected as the feature documentary film for FiRe X, the 10th annual Future in Review (FiRe) 2012 conference. The film, which won the Excellence in Cinematography Award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, will be screened for FiRe's audience of 200 global thought leaders in technology and economics. James Balog, star of the film and National Geographic photographer, will speak at FiRe, which The Economist has called "the best technology conference in the world."

"I am delighted to have this opportunity to present the story of the ice to such an extraordinary gathering of innovators whose work can directly affect our Earth's future," said Balog.

Balog, who was once a skeptic about climate change, discovered undeniable evidence of our changing planet through his Extreme Ice Survey. 'Chasing Ice' follows Balog across the Arctic as he deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras designed for one purpose: to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. Balog's hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. Traveling with a young team of adventurers by helicopter, canoe, and dog sled across three continents, Balog risks his career and his well-being in pursuit of the biggest story in human history.

"For the last five years, we've had a single response to those in climate change denial: 'Watch the ice caps.' James has taken that advice into a realm as beautiful as it is tragic, and the result is both an unforgettable film and a portrayal of global warming that even Fox News and ExxonMobil will have to accept," said Mark Anderson, FiRe Chair and SNS CEO.

Future in Review is an annual gathering of world-class thought leaders in technology and economics. FiRe attendees convene each year with the goals of providing the best look forward in technology and economics, and in using technology to solve major world problems. These goals have been consistently achieved through FiRe's collaboration across disparate industries and through active support by the FiRe community. Now in its 10th year, Future in Review 2012 will take place May 22-25 at the beautiful Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, California.
