New York, NY, May 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF), a supplemental education nonprofit serving New York City students, today announced the formation of a committee to lead a national search for a new CEO of the organization.

Current CEO and President Dr. Danielle Moss Lee this week announced that she will be leaving HEAF to become CEO of the YWCA of the City of New York.

"For ten years, Dr. Danielle Moss Lee has led HEAF through a period of tremendous growth which has broadened and enriched the lives of countless young people in New York City," said Calvin Sims, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HEAF.  "The organization owes Danielle a huge debt of gratitude for the positive impact she has made for HEAF's success.  We wish her nothing but the best in her new endeavor.  The board will begin an immediate national search to find another excellent leader to continue and grow the invaluable work of HEAF."

Dr. Lee will remain with HEAF until July to complete the graduation of this year's class of students and kick off Summer Quest, HEAF's six-week summer program for middle school students.

The search committee organized by HEAF's board will be overseen by Fern Khan, former Dean, Continuing Education, Bank Street College of Education, who will also act as the organization's interim CEO.  Members of the search group will include: Terrance Kyle of Prudential Douglas Elliman, Sheri Berman of Barnard College, Robin Panovka of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, John K. Collins of Moelis & Co., Helen Young Hayes of Janus Capital (retired), John Jacobsson, HEAF Trustee, Calvin Sims of The Ford Foundation, and Daniel Rose of Rose Associates, who is the founder of HEAF.
